At sea, dangerous goods follow different rules than on land: marine pollutants, segregation on board, the container packing certificate. This course explains the IMDG Code and the Canadian rules that apply on top of it, in plain language, for the people who load, document and handle these goods.
Anyone whose work involves packaged dangerous goods travelling by ship in Canada: container packers, documentation clerks, drivers boarding ferries, longshore workers, terminal staff and deckhands.
The IMDG Code (2024 edition) and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations apply, together with the Canada Shipping Act, 2001. The employer issues the training certificate, valid for 36 months.
