Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Personal protective equipment is the last barrier between a worker and the hazard. If it is the wrong equipment or worn incorrectly, it does not protect. This course reviews each type of PPE, from head to toe, and how to choose, fit and maintain it.

Who it’s for

All workers who wear PPE, in construction, manufacturing, laboratories or services, and the people who select or supply it.

What the law says

In Quebec, the AOHS (s. 51) requires employers to provide PPE free of charge and to ensure it is used. Each type of PPE has its CSA standard: hard hats (Z94.1), eye protection (Z94.3), hearing protectors (Z94.2), respirators (Z94.4), footwear (Z195), high visibility (Z96) and harnesses (Z259.10).
