Electromagnetic Fields (EMF)

English and French

Antennas, welding equipment, induction furnaces, electrical substations: some workplaces expose workers to electromagnetic fields. This course explains what they are, when they pose a risk and how to limit exposure, especially for workers with medical implants.

Who it’s for

Workers in telecommunications, power utilities, metalworking and industrial maintenance who are exposed to electromagnetic field sources.

What your employees will be able to do

  • ✓Understand electric and magnetic fields and radiofrequencies
  • ✓Identify sources of exposure at work
  • ✓Know the possible health effects and exposure limits
  • ✓Respect marked zones and safe distances
  • ✓Know the precautions for workers with medical implants

What the law says

Health Canada sets radiofrequency exposure limits (Safety Code 6), and the guidelines of the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) are the reference for other frequencies.

How it works

  • ✓The video is watched in full, with no skipping
  • ✓A quiz after each module, to check understanding
  • ✓A QR-code certificate, with proof in your training records
