Loading Dock Safety

English and French

At the loading dock, forklifts, trucks and pedestrians cross paths, with a gap between the dock and the trailer. A truck that pulls away too early can send a forklift falling. This course teaches workers to secure every loading and unloading operation.

Who it’s for

Forklift operators, shipping and receiving staff, drivers and warehouse supervisors.

What your employees will be able to do

• ✓Recognize dock hazards: early departure, falls, crushing
• ✓Secure the trailer: wheel chocks, vehicle restraints
• ✓Use the dock leveller safely
• ✓Check the trailer floor before driving in
• ✓Communicate with the driver and respect pedestrian zones

What the law says

In Quebec, the AOHS requires employers to organize work safely, and the ROHS governs forklift use and workplace layout.
